SAFEGUARDING PEOPLE WHO USE SERVICES FROM ABUSE
We believe that every client has the fundamental human right to live their life with privacy, dignity, independence
and choice, and to be free from abuse or fear of aggression and violence. We work in collaboration with all legal
and caring agencies to uphold this right and to ensure that our clients are protected from harm through abuse or
exploitation at all times. Comprehensive policies and procedures are in place to safeguard clients and support
‘Protected Characteristics’. Our staff receive extensive training in the safeguarding of vulnerable adults (SOVA)
and are particularly experienced in identifying indicators that abuse may occur.
Robust procedures are in place for responding to the suspicion or evidence of abuse or neglect and to ensure
the safety and protection of clients in accordance with the Conifers' Policies; we are trained in Conflict
Management and Understanding Physical Intervention. The training is appropriate to our client group - it is the
first level of the Restaint course and is called Breakaway Technique . Should it become appropriate for us to be
trained at the next level we would immediately do so with the Department of Health’s guidance.
