Recruitment, Training, Supervision and Support

The Conifers is committed to safeguarding high standards of care where best practice can flourish and to employing the best staff available by offering a quality environment and substantial training opportunities. We comply with the Care Quality Commission standards, our premises are well staffed to fulfill our aim for a person-centered approach to care.

Investment in Care Staff is essential to maintain the quality of services the sector offers and we have developed a thorough training programme. It provides basic and advanced training required by the Care Home Regulations. Our training is led by the needs of our clients and we provide a wide range of staff development to ensure that Care Staff and Managers are professionally informed and fully competent.
We believe that staff development is very important and offer staff substantial training opportunities to develop within their job
Our recruitment and selection procedures ensure that employees are appropriately qualified and that their health, social skills, character and capacity for training make them suitable for work in the Care sector. We will check all new applicants with The Independent Safeguarding Authority and will continue to conform to the required changes in Vetting and Barring. We prioritise training and this is arranged and managed by our Registered Manager. All staff are trained to Care Standards requirements and each individual completes an extensive Induction with further training being provided on a regular basis, e.g. RQF Levels 2, 3, 4 and 5, Inclusive Communication, SOVA, MCA and DoLS training, Autism Awareness training, Dementia Awareness, First Aid, Fire Evacuation, Basic Food and Hygiene, Health and Safety, Lifting and Handling, Boots MDS, Breakaway and Physical Intervention. Staff new to the sector have an Induction period when they are required to complete Care Certificate training. All staff will have a supervision every two months and an annual appraisal.

We strongly support the continuing professional development of all our staff and they are given the opportunity to develop their skills beyond the mandatory requirements and to train in their special areas of interest.

We are a committed equal opportunities employer and have zero tolerance for any inequality.

We have a wealth of internal training expertise and are linked to many specialist tutors in several disciplines. We also use external professionals to deliver courses on our premises.
